Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.
I love these lines of the poem The Stolen Child by Yeats. And I love the idea of the world being full of qualities that cannot be understood. The endless stream of panaceas on how to live that claim all sorts of amazing results if you ascribe to a particular mindset or series of actions could be rooted in fear. A fear of the majestic incomprehensibility of the universe. There is peace and grace that arises within and between people by embracing how limited human knowledge is. You can spin a bazillion tales and theories about life and human dynamics. But at the end of the day there will be much more that remains in mystery, outside the reach of human knowing.
